Do you need a Work Permit?
Please note that from Autumn 2008, the Tier 2 Skilled Workers of the new Points Based System will replace the current Work Permit Scheme. Instead of "work permits" being issued by the Home Office, approved licensed employers will issue "Certificates of Sponsorship".
Please note that employers are required by law to confirm that their employees are eligible to work in the UK, and this check is carried out on the first day at work, if not before.
Internships & placements
We cannot obtain work permits for internships and fixed-term placements. However, if you're an overseas national in full-time education in the UK, current regulations allow that you don't need a work permit for these.
